Tunie Reid Hazlip Obituary (1931 - 2019)

MADISON - Tunie Reid Hazlip of Madison left this world with Christian testimony to join the glory of Heaven on Monday, February 18th, 2019. A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, she is survived by her son Danny, her son Steve and daughter-in-law Corinth Auld, her son Chris and daughter-in-law Christine with grandchildren Bayden, Blake and Layla, her grandson Jason with wife Lindsay and great-grandchildren Karsyn and Cohen, her grandson Tyler with wife Jessica, her daughter-in-law Kathy Wall, her niece Janet Silvers with husband Micky and sons Ben and Joseph and great nephew Reid, her nephew Tim Isley with wife Tammy, and her nephews Johnny White and Randy White with wife Shirley. Mrs. Hazlip is preceded in passing through this world by her husband Carson T. Hazlip Sr., her son Carson T. Hazlip Jr., parents John H. Reid Sr. and Lula (Vuv) Reid, sisters Mary, Myrtle, Margaret, Helen, Evelyn, Virginia (Virge), Jane, her brother John, as well as two infant brothers. A retiree of Gem-Dandy Inc. in Madison, Mrs. Hazlip was also co-owner of Carsons Grocery in Madison from 1970 through 1983 where she and her entire family made a lifetime of friendships. She was known for her sweet spirit and smile and, like all of the women of the Reid family, for her fantastic cooking skills. Above all, she emphasized the value of family and the importance of love, sharing, and togetherness. Memorial services are being thoughtfully administered by Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, with visitation on Friday evening February 22nd from 6:00 - 8:00pm and the Celebration of Life ceremony on Saturday February 23rd at 1:00 pm in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following the ceremony, friends are invited to join the familys processional to Sardis Church Cemetery for the Committal Service after which there will be an opportunity for sharing and togetherness at the Ellisboro Baptist Church fellowship hall.
