Sonny Hennis Obituary (1938

MADISON - Arnold Wayne "Sonny Boy" Hennis, Sr., of Madison NC, went home to be with his Lord on Friday August 2, 2024. Sonny was born and raised at home on his family's tobacco farm in Sandy Ridge, NC on May 4, 1938. He was the youngest of ten children born to Warner and Della Hennis, all of whom he was preceded in death by. He married Margaret Gray Hopper October 7, 1961. They resided in Madison, NC where they raised their two children Lisa Hennis Wilson and Arnold Wayne Hennis, Jr. He worked and retired from Cone Mills Corporation White Oak Plant in Greensboro, NC. Sonny Boy was a big fella with a big heart. He loved his family and was a faithful friend to everyone that knew him. He always made sure everyone was taken care of, especially his grandkids Sonni and Clare Wilson, his great grandson Gray, who he referred to as "Peanut", and step-great grandson Ayden King. They were his pride and joy. Sonny is survived by his wife, Margaret Hopper Hennis; daughter, Lisa Wilson and husband Tim; son, Arnold Wayne Hennis, Jr. and wife Tracy; granddaughters, Sonni Leanne Wilson (Nick), Victoria Clare Wilson (Drew); great-grandson, Wyatt Gray Lankford; step- grandson, Kanoa Das, Kaleb Das; step-granddaughter, Danielle Das; step-great grandson, Ayden King. Colonial Funeral Home of Madison is serving the family.
