Reuben "Donald" Hennis, Jr. Obituary (1973 - 2025)

PINE HALL – Reuben Donald “Donnie” Hennis, Jr. passed away at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, N.C., on Friday, October 3, 2025. Donald was born in Rockingham County to Reuben Donald Hennis, Sr. and Molly Hutson Hennis. Donald’s family will receive friends and family Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Colonial Funeral Home and at other times at Molly’s home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Hicks and Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Donald worked in the food service industry. He was always active and on the go. He was a “Happy Soul” never having any bitterness for his health issues. He enjoyed concerts, attending many of them multiple times, especially his favorite country music artists. Donald was a dedicated Carolina Tar Heel fan. He took pleasure in playing golf, making his first hole in one three weeks before his passing. Donnie was known for his smile and loved everyone. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Donald Hennis, Sr. Donald is survived by his mother, Molly Hutson Hennis; son, William Ross Hennis; extended family, Crystal Hennis, Tabbie Hennis, Heath Hutson, Joe Neal, Carol Neal, Susie Hennis, Diane Neugent and Jenine Hennis. Donald also leaves many friends and relatives to cherish his memories especially his special friend, Jennifer “Peanut” Schneider. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
