Paul "Nup" Ray Joyce Obituary (1946 - 2021)

MADISON - Paul Ray "Nup" Joyce, 74, died on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Annie Penn Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Joyce was born on November 3, 1946 in Stokes County to the late Leonard Joyce and Beulah Mae Hill Joyce. Paul retired from the Stokes County Department of Transportation after thirty years of service. He enjoyed racing go-karts, camping, fishing at the coast and watching Duke Basketball. He was most happy when he was at Lonnie's Store with friends and family and spending time with his beloved grandson, Ryan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, L.J. Joyce and Roby Joyce. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Phyliss Rominger Joyce; son, Jeffery Joyce; mother of this grandson, Heather Joyce; grandson, Ryan Joyce; sisters, Mary Ruth Wall (Jimmy) and Louise Harter; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Joyce and Brenda Mabe and special friends, Pat and Jerry Newman, Talmadge Priddy and Joe Martin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made toward Autism Research and/or the American Lung Association. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
