Marshall D. Preston, Jr. Obituary (1947 - 2025)

EDEN – Marshall D. Preston, Jr., of Eden, peacefully transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Kernersville Medical Center in Kernersville, N.C. Born in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and raised in Waverly, New York, Marshall lived a life defined by service, kindness, and humor. He proudly served his country for twenty-eight years in the United States Navy, completing two tours in Vietnam and another during Desert Storm. His commitment to his duty reflected his deep sense of responsibility and integrity. Marshall was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering work ethic—qualities that shone through in everything he did, no matter how big or small the task. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, he dreamed of visiting Yankee Stadium. He loved country music and could often be heard singing along to his favorite songs. Above all, Marshall loved connecting with people; he never met a stranger and cherished every conversation. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Schallo Preston; daughter, Lucille Bosworth (Garrett); son, Melvin Preston; step-children, Barry Jack May (Machelle) and Debby Lynne Yates (Kenneth); grandchildren, Eleanor Bosworth and Grant Bosworth; brother, Raymond Preston; and sister, Tish Daily. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California, at a later date.
