DOUGLAS RONALD "RONNIE" MABE DANBURY Ronnie Mabe, 71, passed away, Monday, January 29, 2018 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Interment will follow in Hard Bank Cemetery on Piney Grove Church Rd. in Danbury, NC. Mr. Mabe was born on January 24, 1947, in Forsyth County to the late Leslie and Mary Lee Flinchum Mabe. He retired from R.J.R. Archer with 36 years of service and was a member of the Lawsonville Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, where he served as treasurer for 20 plus years. He was Papa Ronnie to everyone. He was one of the last old school cowboys, and he didnt know how not to work. Ronnie was a staunch supporter of all sports, especially softball. Ronnie always put everyone elses needs above his own. Everyone loved Papa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Neil Flinchum and a longtime friend, L.G. Tilley. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Gaynelle Bullins Mabe; son, Douglas Ronald Mabe, Jr. and Rebecca Gibson; daughter, Beth Mabe; brother, Todd Mabe and wife, Mary Lou; sister, Darlene Cook and husband, Dudley; grandchildren, Jade Bullins, Dustin Mabe and wife, Hannah, Tana Brook, and Barrett Mabe; great-granddaughter, Miah Leighann Mabe. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the home.
